Maybe a stupid question but can a watchlist be either populated once an alert occurs or just have a watchlist of all your current alerts?

Yes, very simple to do that. You must begin by creating and saving a custom scan. You then select that saved scan as the source of your watchlist. We call this a "Dynamic Watchlist". This has already been covered in a previous post on the forum:

hey Pete, I totally can do a custom watchlist. But how do you create a watchlist that currently have alerts? What i'd like to do is have the watchlist not having the ticket under my alert is fired. In your statement my "custom scan" is tickers I have alerts for.

For example - one of my several scans has 100 tickets. Out of those hundred tickets I might have 2 charts I like. So I create alerts of those charts. I'd like to have a watchlist only have tickers that have an alert or only have that ticket on the watchlist once the alert trigged.

There are many different methods for creating alerts on Thinkorswim. In this current context of "Alerts" I think you are referring to price based alerts you manually create by right-clicking the chart and selecting "Create Alert". If this is the case than the answer is no. It is not possible to have a watchlist that automatically adds ticker symbols, which have triggered alerts, to a watchlist. You can only do it through the method I described. Which is to create and save a custom scan.
