Moving average Intraday crossover alert question

Hey Pete,

I’m in the process of trying to create the moving average crossover alert and I have some questions about the discrepancies between where the chart says I should receive a signal and the alert values indicates I should receive a signal.  I added the moving averages on the chart for my own edification.

I followed the steps https://www.hahn-tech.com/ans/alert-on-daily-ema-cross-instead-of-intraday/

Also, I only see buy signals.  I’m also interested in sell signals.

You missed a very important step. You did not adjust the inputs for "length1" and 'length2" to match what you have added to the chart. This means you are using the default values of 15 and 30 instead of 5 and 20. This explains why your signals on the lower subgraph do not match the crossovers on the chart.

If you want the signals to display for the cross below instead of the cross above, this again is a setting that you can adjust. The setting is immediately below the place where you adjust the lengths and average types.

Go back to that previous post and check the screenshots I provided and you will see that I included instructions to adjust the inputs as needed.

Thanks Pete, Will the crossover signal work on the downside, as well as the up side?

Yes, I did include an explanation for that. Second paragraph. Only one signal can be used at one time. So to have alert for the cross below you will need to create a separate alert OR add a new condition to your alert for the opposite direction and set the entire Study Alert to "Check if any of the following conditions are true". This is a setting at the very top of the condition wizard.
