I use a range bar chart for analysis. I also use volume as a large part of my analysis. However on a range bar chart volume is difficult to compare because the time between bars is always changing. Therefore I wish to divide volume by the Sierra indicator Bar time duration. This presents some problems. Ideally this volume/time would be expressed as number of contracts traded/second. The Bar time duration is expressed in seconds or minutes and seconds. So all times of the bar time duration would have to be converted to seconds. Also in times of high volatility sometimes the bar time duration is Zero (think of employment reports or interest rate announcements); so the minimum time would have to be 1 second. The purpose of this indicator would be to have comparative volume regardless of the bar time duration. Thanks

I have to be honest and admit I don't have clue where to start. I have read through your request multiple times and cannot even visualize what you want to display on the chart or in what form it should be displayed. I suggest you take the least expensive option of running a time based chart along side your range bar chart. Then sync the crosshairs between charts so you can get the volume data you need along with your range bar chart. I said "least expensive" because your request seems to require that we write a custom chart study, and for Sierra Chart this is far above and beyond the complexity of solutions we provide free of charge in the Q&A forum. Sierra Chart code language is C++ and there is nothing simple about writing custom chart studies in this programming language. If this is crucial to your trading success, you may submit this as a custom project request, in which we provide a solution according to the rates and terms explained on the following page of our website: https://www.hahn-tech.com/about/ If you choose to submit this as a custom project request, we'll need to exchange several emails before I understand exactly what you are requesting. For example you will need to provide a screenshot of a chart, marked up with comments and drawings explaining how you want this to display on the chart. Marked as spam
